Personally, I would have liked it if you'd put a character death warning at the beginning of this story. Or at least a note that one of the characters is no longer alive. Or something.
I understand that doing that might have ruined the story somewhat, but I think a warning of some kind would have been better than none at all.
I feel sick now, as I normally choose not to read fics with major character deaths in them. I have issues with death, which is why I find warnings in stories extremely handy!
That said, I do hope to read more from you in future. I like your writing style. :-D
